Jane Boyd is the Founder and President of Work Family & Life Consulting (WFL). WFL specializes in the design, development and delivery of progressive work-life solutions that address the issues faced by today's work environments. WFL is a recognized leader in the provision of high quality, unique work-life consultation services and programs.
For more than twenty years, Jane has been at the forefront of the work-life field in Canada. She has worked with government, business and community on many of the mot innovative work-life initiatives in the country. Jane has been instrumental in developing a number of work-life solutions that use a partnership or collaborative approach. She has worked with leading organizations to develop customized work-life programs and services. Jane was one of the lead consultants on a project entitled Winning Strategies to Support Caregiving in the Workplace; which was funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Social Development Partnerships Program.
Jane also works closely with the child care field and has a specialization in designing and developing programs that are unique in their approach. She is a certified & licensed Early Childhood Educator in multiple Canadian Provinces:
- Alberta - Early Childhood Development Worker
- British Columbia - Early Childhood Educator
- Newfoundland & Labrador - Level Two Certification - Preschool, School Age and Infant Certification
- Prince Edward Island - Supervisor
Recent projects include the coordination of child care development for a local city in the BC Lower Mainland, the co-authoring of child care design guidelines for new child care facilities, the development of a Montessori School on PEI to help attract professionals to the City of Summerside and the coordination of an emergency child care program in the Vancouver area. Jane also has specialized experience in the development of workplace child care programs. She was the lead child care consultant for the development of the Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers workplace child care program; a 59 space, custom designed early learning & care environment for infants, toddlers, preschool and school age children. She is also the lead consultant on the feasibility and development of several other yet to be announced corporate child care programs in Western Canada.
She has a strong interest in public policy related issues and is an advocate for high quality, affordable child care options for all families. She works in PEI to raise awareness regarding the importance of addressing the early years and in British Columbia on the importance of access to quality child care programs for all families. Jane has more than sixteen years direct experience working with Montessori child care programs and/or independent school educational programs. She has served as the Director of Development and Chair of the the Board for several Montessori school programs in BC and PEI.
Jane is actively involved in the issues that she is so passionate about. She has served on the Provincial Child Care Council in British Columbia and the WorkLife BC Advisory Committee as well as countless other committee and taskforce appointments. Jane has also served as the Vice Chair for the Advisory Council on the Status of Women in PEI and is the President of the Parents for Choice & Quality Society which operates in BC and PEI. Jane is also a Director of the National Work Life Network Society and the Islanders by Choice Alliance Society. Jane has been nominated for a YWCA Women of Distinction Award and has the received the Distinguished Service to Families Award from the BC Council for Families.
Jane lives in BC but has a strong connection to Prince Edward Island through both her work and personal experiences. She manages her work and personal responsibilities with much help and support from her husband Bob. Together they are growing the capabilities of WFL, raising their three children ages eight through seventeen and enjoying life.
